New SPARCS technology combines AI and microscopy to screen cells - News-Medical
New technology combines artificial intelligence and microscopy to screen cells at large scale. A new technology promises to enable more comprehensive investigations into how individual genes determine the appearance and behavior of cells: Researchers led by Professor Veit Hornung at LMU's Gene Center and Professor Matthias Mann at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, together with Professor Fabian Theis at Helmholtz Munich, have developed SPARCS, a technology that combines artificial intelligence with microscopy and genetic screening. It enables researchers to screen millions of genetically modified cells for complex visual features and then selectively isolate individual cells of interest. Using SPARCS, cellular effects can thus be linked to the genetic changes that cause them. The findings have now been published in the journal Cell.

You can still buy Microsoft Office without a subscription, and it’s $27.97 - Mashable
TL;DR: Get a Microsoft Office Professional 2021 for Windows lifetime license for $27.97 (reg. $219.99) and skip the yearly Microsoft 365 bill. Microsoft pushes almost everyone toward Microsoft 365, and the Personal plan now costs $99.99 a year. A lot of people don’t realize they can still buy Office outright. A Microsoft Office Professional 2021 for Windows lifetime license is on sale for $27.97 (reg. $219.99), and you pay for it once. You get the full Professional suite, with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Access, plus Publisher and the free version of Teams. Access is the database app that Office Home editions leave out, so this version suits anyone who tracks clients, inventory, or invoices. Microsoft ends support for Publisher in October 2026. Your license installs on one PC running Windows 10 or 11, for home or work. It ties to that computer instead of a Microsoft account, and a Microsoft-verified partner sells it. Because this is Office 2021 and not Microsoft 365, there are no monthly or annual fees. Your redemption code arrives via email immediately after purchase, and you have 7 days to redeem it.

Evolv Technologies Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVLV), a leading security technology company pioneering AI-based solutions designed to create safer experiences, today announced that Major League Soccer team, St. Louis CITY SC, has entered a multi-year renewal agreement for Evolv Express®, the company’s people-screening solution. Express has been in use at Energizer Park, the team’s 22,423-seat home stadium, since its opening in 2023. Nearly two million people have been screened to date using Evolv Express at CITY SC matches and community events. The renewal, which maintains Evolv’s status as CITY SC’s “Official Fan Screening Partner,” has updated the Express fleet to all Gen2 hardware, which went live in April. Evolv Express uses advanced sensor technology and AI to detect concealed threats and identify the person and location of the potential threat, while allowing people to move through checkpoints at their natural walking pace. The system is designed to screen visitors effectively while helping minimize congestion and disruption to traffic flow at entry points. The new Gen2 hardware adds enhanced mobility, improved camera resolution, and other features to the equipment fleet.
