Netanyahu is flying freely over Canada as his international arrest warrant remains in place - CBC

A review of two years of flights by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shows that the Israeli leader is once again routinely taking a more direct path — through Canadian airspace — when travelling to the United States despite the international arrest warrant that Canada has committed to enforce. Canada has been criticized for undermining its public message of support for international law by permitting Netanyahu to fly over the country. Over that time, the federal government's explanation of its rationale for doing so has shifted. European countries appear to be split on the issue of whether an obligation to enforce the warrant extends to sovereign airspace. The government of France, which has also allowed Netanyahu to fly through its airspace, has said it will enforce International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli officials — but has also argued that it has no obligation to do so in the air.

Edmonton man accused of abducting his 2 kids wanted on Canada-wide warrant - Global News

The search for a man and his two kids, missing for more than a month, has escalated as police now believe the children were abducted on purpose. On Wednesday, the Edmonton Police Service announced a Canada-wide warrant was issued on Sept. 23 for Scot MacDermid, 42, in relation to two counts of abduction in contravention of a custody order. That charge is considered when investigators believe a parent or guardian has taken a child under the age of 14, in violation of a valid court order, with the intent of depriving another guardian of possession of the child. MacDermid and his children, nine-year-old Lesley and six-year-old George, disappeared from north Edmonton on Friday, Aug. 28. Their last known whereabouts within the city was at the Manning Town Centre shopping complex in northeast Edmonton, near 155 Avenue and 37 Street. Story continues below advertisement
