As Québec and Canada seek to produce more of their own food, strengthen food security, and accelerate the shift to more sustainable agriculture, Gourma is investing more than $25 million to add one hectare of next-generation greenhouses to its Saint-Norbert complex. The project will integrate advanced technologies to automate production, improve energy efficiency, and manage resources responsibly. Construction got underway in summer 2026, and the new facilities are set to begin operating in early 2027. More than an expansion, the project marks a significant shift in Gourma's production model and demonstrates what high-performance technologies can bring to agriculture in Québec. "We're not just building new greenhouses. We're building what we believe will be the model for greenhouse production in the decades ahead," said Charles Verdy, President of Gourma. "Our ambition is to show we can grow more here in Québec with less energy and water, fewer inputs and a smaller environmental footprint.
