AI workloads continue to evolve across training, inference, distributed inference and agentic AI with each workload placing a unique requirement on the infrastructure. Having a flexible infrastructure that can adapt to future workloads is critical to keeping pace with AI. As organizations build larger and more distributed AI systems, networking has become a critical determinant of overall system performance.
The need for both performance and flexibility has helped make Ethernet the networking foundation of choice for modern AI data centers. Its broad ecosystem, open standards, and ability to continuously evolve have enabled widespread adoption, with Gartner forecasting that more than 80% of hyperscalers will choose Ethernet for AI workloads by 2028. However, large-scale AI training places fundamentally different demands on the network than traditional cloud and storage workloads.

Microchip Technology (MCHP) Could Be 27% Below Fair Value After Ethernet Launch - Simply Wall Street
Microchip Technology (MCHP) moved on the back of fresh product news, after it expanded its 10BASE-T1S Ethernet portfolio with new PMD transceivers and integrated endpoint devices targeting automotive, industrial and robotics connectivity. For context, Microchip Technology shares trade at US$78.78, with recent product launches tied to Ethernet and power monitoring arriving against a mixed backdrop. The 30-day share price return of 8.02% and year-to-date gain of 21.14% contrast with a 90-day decline of 11.17%, while the 1-year total shareholder return of 25.89% points to momentum that has cooled in the short term but remains constructive over a longer horizon. Scan how Microchip Technology’s Ethernet and power-monitoring themes play out across other listed players with our curated 89 AI infrastructure stocks for data and connectivity hardware leveraged to AI workloads. Microchip Technology appears to be a solid embedded control and connectivity business, and the latest Ethernet move underlines that. Charlie Vickers: ‘Tom Cruise cheated at freediving – that’s the headline’ - The Guardian
You once played Basil Fawlty in an amateur student production of Fawlty Towers at Queen’s College in Melbourne. How amateur was your Basil Fawlty moustache? It was terrible. It was real but it was definitely coloured in – I still have holes in my beard. I’d also shaved my head, so if you look at the early promo posters, you can clearly see I’m wearing a wig. Our theatre was closed so we had to perform in a circus tent in the middle of winter, on an oval in the university grounds, which was all very Fawlty Towers. I’ve always loved comedy. I didn’t really do anything serious until drama school. I always thought there might be a good spin-off with Sauron and Celebrimbor as an odd-couple situation. You play Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Tolkien wrote that Sauron “represents as near an approach to the wholly evil will as is possible”. What do you consider wholly evil? A complete disregard for the feelings and wellbeing of other people, to put it simply. It’s the intention, I think. I have horrible flashbacks to playing Aussie rules when I was about 17. I thought people were being quite evil to me at the time.
