Description
Three children and a teacher are dead after a 16-year-old gunman forced his way into an elementary school and opened fire Thursday in Bend, Oregon. Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz says the children killed were aged 5, 8 and 11. Another child, age 7, and a teacher are being treated at a local hospital. According to Bend police, initial calls reported that an unknown man had shot into a car at Silver Rail Elementary School, where more than 400 students are enrolled. Subsequent 911 callers said somebody had entered the school and started shooting. Police say the suspected shooter was killed by an armed community member who had pursued him into the school.
